After obtaining an understanding of what brought you to counseling, as well as your goals, your therapist will provide feedback and discuss a plan to help. Listed below are the services we offer. Please keep in mind that this list does not include everything we do or treat, but reflects common issues people have and services we regularly provide.
Stress Management Services
Stress management training may take many forms based on your needs. In general, we focus on two primary areas (1) learning to manage physical signs of tension and stress; and (2) learning to manage thoughts and feelings that lead to stress. Stress management is a process that involves sessions with a therapist as well as the completion of home-based assignments.
Treatment for Depression
The most effective treatment for clinical depression is a combination of psychotherapy and medication. Some people are experiencing mild-to-moderate symptoms of depression. For them, psychotherapy alone or medication alone may be enough. Psychotherapy typically includes techniques to change unhelpful thinking patterns, strategies to increase valued or important activities, and discussions about important relationships in your life. When you meet with the trained and licensed staff at StressCare Behavioral Health, Inc., we will work with you to plan the treatment techniques that will be most helpful for your situation.
Treatment for Anxiety
Anxiety disorders can be greatly reduced and, in some cases, resolved with appropriate treatment. Strategies for treating anxiety disorders focus on helping you to understand the origins of your anxiety, learn strategies to reduce/control your symptoms, and become more comfortable with the situations, objects or memories that lead to the unpleasant feelings. Together, these combined strategies will allow you to return to activities and situations you may be avoiding.
Treatment for anger problems usually involves Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT). With this approach the person learns to cope better with difficult situations, resolve relationship conflicts in a positive way, mentally handle emotional stress caused by day-to-day problems, as well as stress caused by illness, abuse, or other physical or mental traumas. If needed this approach is used to overcome chronic pain or other physical problems and to deal with grief more effectively. All of these issues and others can be contributing to the person’s anger problem. Another component of effective treatment is often the use of relaxation training, biofeedback, or mindfulness/meditation techniques to help the person learn to decrease physical arousal such as heart rate and adrenalin.
Chemical Dependency & Addiction
We offer assessments and counseling for persons struggling with alcohol and other drugs. We use a person-centered approach, tailoring a program around your needs, to help you become free of the grips of addiction, so you may live a fuller, happier life. Our staff is trained and licensed by the state of Ohio to treat your issues.
Couples, Relationship, and Family Counseling
It’s normal to experience conflicts and challenges in personal relationships, especially in marital and family relationships. Often there are breakdowns in communication which can occur because of different beliefs and attitudes, trust issues, child discipline and other child-rearing issues, blended family challenges, inequity over home tasks, failure to make the relationship a priority, alcohol, drug, gambling or other addiction issues, financial and spending issues and so on. These issues can be very stressful and leave a person feeling confused and exhausted. Even one important issue can create emotional distance between partners, reducing relationship satisfaction.
At StressCare our goal is to enrich relationships and help people grow and achieve relationship satisfaction and happiness. We have experienced and licensed professionals to help partners learn the skills necessary to achieve their goals in a healthy manner.
Biofeedback techniques involve the use of technology to amplify signals from the body so that you can be more aware of how your body responds to stress. With this enhanced awareness you can learn to better control your stress response to manage and reduce stress levels.
Massage therapy relaxes muscle tension and allows heart rate, blood pressure and circulation to return to normal – counteracting the body’s negative responses to stress. This pleasant and relaxing experience can have many positive effects on the body and the mind. In addition to the widely recognized benefits of a Relaxation Massage, a Therapeutic or Medical Massage can help to reduce chronic pain and manage symptoms of other chronic health conditions.

Mindfulness & Health Promotion
Mindfulness is the mental process of focusing your attention on the present moment without judgment, a skill one develops through meditation and other training. It involves maintaining a moment-by-moment awareness of thoughts, feelings, physical sensations, and our environment through a gentle and nurturing lens. As one builds this skill much less time and energy is spent rehashing the past and worrying about the future.
